A concrete carpenter installs the concrete formwork foundations in the early stages of a building or other construction project. As a concrete carpenter, your crucial tasks include establishing the fundamental structure of buildings.

WHAT WILL
YOU DO

  1. Install and assemble utility plumbing systems according to blueprints, engineering specifications, and project requirements, including pipes, fittings, valves, and control devices.

  2. Cut, thread, and join pipes of various materials, including PVC, ductile iron, and HDPE, using appropriate techniques and tools to ensure proper alignment and connection.

  3. Connect utility pipelines to municipal water supplies, sewer systems, stormwater drains, and other utility infrastructure, ensuring proper integration and compliance with regulatory standards.

  4. Conduct pressure tests and leak tests on utility pipelines to verify integrity, identify leaks, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  5. Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on utility plumbing systems, including clearing blockages, replacing damaged pipes, and repairing or replacing valves and control devices as needed.

  6. Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines on job sites, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with established safety protocols.

  7. Maintain accurate records of utility plumbing activities, including documentation of materials used, work performed, and any issues encountered during installation or repair.

WHAT IS
EXPECTED OF
YOU

  • Previous experience as a plumber, utility technician, or a related field required, with at least 3 years of experience in utility plumbing preferred.

  • Proficiency in plumbing techniques, including pipefitting, utility connections, and pressure testing, with knowledge of utility infrastructure systems.

  • Understanding of utility plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards, with the ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with utility plumbing systems.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and project stakeholders.

  • Relevant plumbing certification or license is preferred but not required.
